Hi I am trying to find a baptism for Samuel Jones born abt 1840 Whitford, Flintshire to a Samuel Jones born 1806 Whitford, Flintshire, also a marriage for Samuel Jones & Hannah unknown born 1816 Holywell, Flintshire, the marriage is between 1835 and 1840, Samuel was a Miner. Thanks
-
Hi
There's a baptism for a Samuel Jones, Whitford on 3 Nov 1839 s/o Samuel and Joanna Jones. Samuel was a miner.
Could Hannah = Joanna?

Marriage 18 March 1837, Holywell
Samuel Jones of Whitford and Johannah Williams of Holywell.

Hi Gadget
Thanks very much for that, it could be Johannah as it shows her by that name on one the censuses. Do you know Samuel & (Jo)Hannah's fathers names at all please?
-
Hi Gadget
Sorry just realised the marriage wouldn't show their fathers names at that date! Would you have access to another marriage for me please, it is for the Samuel Jones (whose baptism you have found for me in 1839) to Mary Davies in 1869 and hopefully their fathers names and occupations, thanks very much (free BMD says Gt Boughton, Flintshire sep qtr)

Hi,
There is a marriage listed 1866-1870 CheshireBMD website for a Samuel Jones and Mary Davies, Chester St Mary. Register at Cheshire West.
HTH,
Megran.

Hi
I don't think that marriage is your Samuel - it took place at St Mary's on the Hill, Chester on 14 Sept 1869. Fathers - John Jones and Thomas Davies.
See : https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NNPY-KF1
Great Broughton RD included Chester until 1870 - http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/great%20boughton.html

Thanks very much Megran & Gadget
I found a baptism for Alfred Henry Jones for 24 December 1874 Hawarden, Flintshire and it says his parents were Samuel Jones & Mary Davis (Davies) this Alfred Henry Jones is with his parents on the census for 1881 living in Holywell. This Samuel fits in with the baptism that you sent me for 3 November 1839. Would you have any idea who this Mary is who married Samuel Jones.
-
Hi
Could it be Mary Harriet Davies m Thomas Jones in Holywell 1868?
Thanks

Hi Manxmaid :)
The best way of sorting this out is to tell us how you came to find the Great Broughton marriage - and if they were the parents of one of your ancestors. I'm a bit confused about the jump from Samuel Jones and Johannah in 1837 to a Samuel Jones and Mary Davies in 1869, as this Samuel was not the son of the earlier Samuel.
Have you got a census ref or a child for them?

PS - just seen you're earlier post - it might be best to get more info on Alfred - I'll have a look.

Trying to trace them back ~
In 1871, they are living in Hawarden - RG10/3734/21/14
7 Terrace, Hawarden
Samuel Jones, 31, coach Man, b. Whitford
Mary, w, 23, b. Hawarden
Mary L J, d, 8 mths, b. -do-

Hi
I am sorry being such a nuisance, that marriage is correct, the Samuel Jones I want was born in 1840 Whitford not to Samuel & Johanna as I thought but to John Jones & Mary ? who were both born in 1799 Whitford
-
It might be best to go to Family Search and try to find the correct birth of Samuel. I looked up info based on what you originally said and now you say that your info was wrong :-\
There's lots of info on FS that could lead you to the family without any other help.
-
Hi yes I have that census, I'm okay with the Samuel & Mary and locating their censuses, it seems to be the earlier censuses for Samuel that I got wrong. I have just found my correct Samuel son of John & Mary on the 1851 census after your help thanks
-
I believe that this is their first child's baptism:

Hiya Gadget
I already have all the children for Samuel & Mary thanks, I have found births for William & John Jones sons of John Jones & Mary, but sadly nothing for Samuel 1839/40 Whitford
Thanks for your help
-
Do you have their marriage - looks as if they were married by 1833, given William was 18 on the 1851 - HO107/2500/246/37
-
Hi
No I don't have a marriage I found them on the 1841 census with Joseph Jones aged 20 (not sure if he is their son) William aged 8, Louisa aged 6, John & Mary aged 4 and Samuel aged 2
-
Hi Manxmaid,
There's a Whitford baptism of Samuel Jones, son of John (carpenter) and Sarah Jones of Whitford on 9 June 1839 (even gives his birth date of 23 May :)).
Could this be a mistake on mum's name? Was John a carpenter?

Hi Deirdre
I saw that last night but it didn't seem to fit with the info that we had on John:
1832 - William's baptism - labourer
1841 - Lead ore miner
1851 - Miner
1869 - Samuel's marriage - Miner
Also, John Jones (carpenter) and Sarah are on the 1841 at HO107/1407/25/4/2 with a 2 year old Samuel , so not the right one, sadly.

Given that the other two Samuel's are listed in the C of E baptisms, is this a possible baptism for John and Mary's son:

Hi Gadget & Deidre
Thanks very much for all your help, I have that baptism for Samuel in 1839. The problem is my not knowing the arears in around Flintshire & Cheshire and what comes under which? Also there were a lot of Samuel Jones' born around that time. Jones is defo not an easy name to search if you do not have all the facts. I think I've done well up to now given the limited information I had to to follow from.
