Hi Mike,
Thanks fo this search, it has now raised further puzzles for me.
Moving on to 1841census, probable fit of William & ann Wortley Loughborough Workhouse, both born Leicestershire around 1796 but then 1851 census William from Belton (B 1795) and Ann fron Beeson / Notts (B1793) and cant trace in 1861
Also I could not find an Ann Waldram b Osgathorpe 1796 ish or William Wortley B Belton about then so I am more puzzzled
I have a Ann Waldram b 1805 Osgathorpe in my tree of James Waldram & Mary Adcock but not sure now where she went
Always more problems

If it is him they obviously stayed in the L'boro area so i will have a good look on mon at L'boro prs which are mainly indexed. Wortley is quite a common local name.

Hi Both,
These burials have given me birth years of 1794 For William Wortley at Belton ?
and 1791 for Ann Waldram, possibly Osgathorpe.
I cant find the relevant 1861 and 1871 Census entries but will have another look using these birth years

Greeting’s again Chris.
Just to say That the Parish names given at the marriage ………
Relates to the Parishes that both parties were resident at the time of the marriage only
And not necessary the Parishes of BIRTH.

Hi Mike,
Yes I understand that
The 1851 census gives William birthplace as Belton, and Ann as born Beeson ? (No t of Beeston) Notts, and yet 1841 lists them both "Leicestershire". If we could find the 1861 0r 1871 census entries this might be clearer.

your william??
loughborough Petty Sessions
William Wortley, of Belton, fined 2s. and costs, for breaking the window of Mr. Paul Jones, of that place, or.one month to hard labour
Leicester Chronicle - Saturday 11 January 1834
Loughborough petty sessions:

there are other articles in the british newspapers online about a william wortley in l'boro but not sure that he is yours. there is another WW - FWK who dies in 1860 but aged 59.

William Wortley baptism:
nothing listed Belton 1786 -1800
Only one on IGI Leics: William Wortley 3/9/1793 Shepshed s/o William & Mary
only 3 miles to Belton so possible.
Marriage: William Wortley = Mary Orringe 17/8/1784 Shepshed
have a feeling i've come across this couple /orringe before on RC - yes if you search there are 3 threads.
Ann Waldram Baptism
IGI Notts - nothing listed anywhere near date
1811 L'bor census - no wortleys listed
Paupers in Workhouses 1861 (more than 5 years) - no Wortleys listed.

Hi,
I have now found them in the 1871 census, Transcribed as Worthy
Loughborough Union workhouse, in Enumeratiom district 17 pages 12 and 13
William Infirm Inmate Married Age 77 FWK b Belton
Ann Ditto Married 76Dom Serv b Beeston Notts
Following back to Union Workhouse 1861 again in enumeration distrist 17 p 36 onwards, the Staff are given full names but inmates by Initial only so not very decisive. However 1st entry is W. W. Married ,69, FWK, b Belton so possibly William Wortley and the next entries are A. W. , Married, 61, Seamstress, but born Derbyshire Burton on Trent !!! next 2 could be children, T. W. and S. W. Male & Female 11 and 18 both Derbyshire Burton on Trent
1871 census is useful, looks like she was born Beeston Notts.
