Hi. I am looking to trace a Robert Thompson born in 1832 in Ballyligpatrick Co.Antrim Ireland. His parents were a Henry (Harry) Thompson and a Nancy Graham. I know he moved to America at some point as in his fathers will issued upon his death he leaves money to him and it mentions he is now in America. Unfortunately no mention of where. He had 7 sibblings all of whom stayed in Ireland. Sorry this is a bit vague but if anyone can come up with anything I would be grateful Thanks

Would you like me to move your topic to the U.S. board as that is where details are likely to be found?

No cannot see any further information. You could check the Censuses, but there are several Robert Thompsons born around the same time so it is difficult to pin one down. Someone on the site may be able to offer more information the researchers on here are fantastic :)

When did his father die?
-
Roberts father was a Henry known as Harry Thompson. He died 20 jan 1881 in Ballyligpatrick co. antrim

It might take a bit of ruling possible Roberts out to find your guy. There are at least 12 on the 1880 census who might fit the bill: http://www.rootschat.com/links/0tjj/
I took a look at the one who was in Brownsville, NY and Civil War records have his parents as Joseph & Margaret, so he seems to be out.

The Robert Thompson in Circleville, Ohio seems to not be him either, as the parents are wrong on his death certificate. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/X86Y-9TL
