Hello, I am trying to trace Thomas Scudamore born 1787 d 1874 from Swainswick Bath. I think his wife was called Martha. It is believed he had a daughter called Caroline and she married James Collins from Twerton and had many children. I cannot seem to find her on any census apart from 1841 in Gay Street Bath. I cannot find a connection to thomas. also would like to know when she died.
Many Thanks
Sarah

Here is her marriage (I think!):
March qtr 1849
Bath district vol 11, page 29
Scudamore, Caroline
+ and on the same page +
Collins, James
Confirmed on BathBMD.org.uk
1849 at St Mary, Swainswick
Caroline Scudamore to James Collins
On the 1841 census, it looks like Caroline is at school?
There is a schoolmistress and a teacher, and a number of children.

And there are some possibilities re deaths:

You said you could not find a connection to Thomas - Familysearch has a christening on a Caroline, daughter of Thomas & Martha in Swainswick on 16 Sept 1821
Link is https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/N182-SHW ((but not working at present)

Also not sure the death mentioned previously is your James, as there's a James Collins, Miller, b Twerton c 1826 in Newton St Loe on 1871, and Lyncombe in 81 & 91. He is a widower with children
Ada b c1851
John b c1852
Nora b c1853
Edwin b c1854
Blanch b c1857
Caroline b c1858
On 1871, Ada & Ccaroline are with their grandfather Thomas Scudamore

Hello Dave I was not aware of them having another daughter called Martha. I have look on freereg.org.uk and I have found a Thomas born to the couple baptised 10 May 1829 but cannot find a death or marriage. It is interesting that you mention Dead Mills as there was a legal dispute over this and other properties which hit the papers. I am not sure who inherited but going further back Thomas' father owned it, there was also 2 older brothers John Griffin and Paul but not sure on their entitlement.
Many Thanks for the information certainly an interesting family
Sarah
