Can anyone find any info about a Robert Hall born c1820 in Beetley,Norfolk? He married Mary Ann Carson and ended up in Essex, subsequently having 8 children. Not sure of his parentage? Parents possibly William and Frances?
Thanks. :)

Hi
Can you put details on here of this marriage between Robert H n Mary A C please.
I have searched everywhere and cannot find it, wondering if there is a mistake in one of the
names and that is why it is being elusive.
I have a great interest in the surname HALL as my lineage is from the same area as this Robert's, but I don't have him in my data, so maybe he is not one of mine or could be if his father was an elusive one to find too.

Bendy Wendy....I do not have a marriage cert for Robert Hall and Mary Ann Carson but am assuming they WERE married as I have a birth cert for one of their sons,Thomas and the mother is Mary Ann Hall formerly Carson and father is Robert Hall.
This couple were my Great Great Great Grandparents :)
-
Hi
It is most likely there is a transcription error on one of their surnames or Carson was not the surname Mary Ann used for marrying Robert. Or they didn't marry.
Have you been in contact with other people who have them in their tree's to see if anyone has birth certificates for their other children to see what details is given for the mother's names ???
Did you read the links I put on about others searching for same couple, I would like to know how one of them thinks his father is Thomas if there is no marriage certificate found ???
Keep searching

Thanks Bendy Wendy.....looking at the other links now!
Still think Mary Ann was nee Carson because in 1851 Mary Ann and Robert were living next door to Anthony and Sarah Carson, Mary Anns parents.
-
Have you a marriage for her parents, I think her mother was Sarah Lazell but cannot find a marriage for them.
1841 Cen Robert Halls aged 20 was living with Mary Ann Carson's family @ Cranham, but Mary Ann is not with them.
1851 Anthony Carson states born Norfolk, so did he and Robert know each other or related ???
In 1841 Mary Ann would be abt 13 years of age going by her age of 23 given on 1851 cen.
1851 eldest child is 5 years, so a marriage would have been abt 1844-46 making Mary Ann abt 16-18 years of age.
It could be that these families where Methodist's and therefore you will need to search the Essex Methodist Circuit Records for Cranham or nearby.

These records don't always have seperate registers for BMD instead they can be like a diary of what happened each particular meeting.
If they were not Methodist's then possibly Catholics, of which I believe there still is a catholic church and comes under the Diocese of Brentwood, you can contact the Diocese on this link to ask where you can view the records:

Hi Mary Ann CARSON and Robert HALL, married All saints Cranham Essex 25 th Dec 1841 Robert was 23 years old and Mary Ann was 16.
-
Hi jessie0000
Where did you find this marriage entry, as it is not listed on FreeBMD or FreeREG, in fact I cannot find it on any site ?
Also did the entry give any parents details for either of them or if either or both were of the parish, as you state her age of 16 yrs, her father or a guardian will have had to have given consent for this marriage, which could be noted on the Banns and/or marriage cert ?
regards bendywendy

I believe I have found Robert's family in Beetley:
1841 Cen @ Beetley, Norfolk - Next to the Punch Bowl
Thomas Hall 55, Ag Lab
Sarah Hall 55
Elizabeth Hall 19
James Hall 7
All born in County Yes
1851 Cen @ Gressenhall Workhouse, Norfolk
Thomas Hall, Pauper, Wid, 67, Ag Lab, Born Beetley
1851 Cen @ West Lexham Farm, Norfolk
James Hall, Servant, Unm, 17, General Servant, born Beetley
Elizabeth Hall, Servant, Unm, 26, Cook, born Cawston
Deaths:
Sarah Hall Mar Q 1844 Mitford & C (covers Beetley & Gressenhall)
Sarah Hall Dec Q 1850 Mitford & C """
Thomas Hall June Q 1852 Mitford """
James Hall may not be a son of Thomas & Sarah, but a grandson and a nephew to Elizabeth:
Baptism James Daveney Hall 23 June 1833 Beetley parent Charlotte Hall
Index No:I07337-8 - System:England-EASy - Film No:1471681 item 12 p 38
Parish registers for Parish Church of Beetley, 1539-1907 - Norwich Record Office
The only marriage for a Thomas Hall to a Sarah 1810-1841 is to Sarah Ambrose @ Colton 31 August 1814 (I extended the date to include Sarah as a possible 2nd marriage of Thomas)
According to FreeREG the grooms parish is Horningham which is just north of Colton, witnesses were Anne Norton & Thomas Lovett, Sarah was a Spinster, no other details noted.
I cannot find a baptism for a Thomas Hall c1770-1790 in areas of Beetley, Horningham or Colton.

Hi Jill
Got the image, many thanks, but end of r/h side is cut off, what is the names for fathers and their occupations, or is this how you rec'd the image ??
I have, once again, checked for their marriage on various sites, on FreeBMD for Romford District, there is a page/s missing for surnames HAJ-HAQ which is where HAL would be found and likewise for CAR, gap between CAL-CLA so I wonder if these pages are actually missing altogether and that is why no entries are coming up on other sites too :(
