I cannot find anything about my Uncle Arthur Thomas Russell after 1911 London.
He was born 1894 Stepney East London.
I did find Arthur Russell outgoing passenger from London to Sydney in July 1911 but it doesn't give his age so I don't know if it is him.
Can anyone find any Arthur Russells arriving in Australia about that time or later.
Or is that like finding a needle in a haystack? ::)

There is an Arthur Thomas Russell on the London, England Electoral Register 1832 - 1965 on Ancestry between 1949 - 1959 in Poplar. Only had a quick look. There was a Mary Russell at same address. Wife?
-
I think I have seen that entry on the Electoral Register but I couldn't find a marriage.
It could be him. I'll have to have another look for a marriage.
Thanks

I guess you have found this before, but the only marriage I can find for an Arthur T Russell is Sep 1927 vol 1d page 2227 in Greenwich Kent to an Ellen Else per Free BMD.
-
There is a death of an Arthur T Russell abt 1893 Oct-Nov-Dec aged 73 Tonbridge Kent vol 5f p798.
I looked for an equivalent birth in Kent, but none for an "Arthur T".
There is an Arthur Theodore Russell born in St Olave in 1893, so could also be him.
-
I have seen the marriage to Ellen Else and I can't remember now why I ruled that out.
I have been considering sending for the Death cert in Kent. However I don't know how I will know if it is him.
Thanks for your efforts

Re Australia: there are some Arthur Thomas Russell's coming up in the Hunter Valley region on the Australian Electoral Rolls: Scone, Singleton, Raymond Terrace, and then surburban Newcastle. Deaths go up to 1982 only in NSW BDM http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/cgi-bin/Index/IndexingOrder.cgi/search (http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/cgi-bin/Index/IndexingOrder.cgi/search)

I found a marriage between Arthur t Russell & Alice L Peel at Glen Innes but it didn't give a date.

Hi,
There is the following, which may or may not be who you are looking for.

Okay, yes.
Glen Innes, I saw that too in 1930 Electoral Roll and it is the same one in Scone.
Alice Leticia Russell and Arthur Thomas Russell Wentworth Street, Glen Innes NSW postal assistant and
in 1936 (Scone district) they are at Murrurundi NSW and he is now a labourer (same names).
Glen Innes is north from Murrurundi, about 3 and a half hours drive.

The marriage certificate would confirm his parents and how long in Australia or if born here, but it may not even be him. Perhaps try one of the English certificates first. But great idea about the look up!
-
There is an Arthur T Russell born in Tenterfield in 1909, only an hour from Glenn Innes, which would be the bigger town, so perhaps this is him. Son of Alexander and Rosetta.
-
Arthur was born in London in 1894.

I think the Arthur b. 1909 in Tenterfield is probably the one who married Alice Leticia Peel.
-
Alice L Peel born 1909 in Glen Innes. Same age anyway as the Arthur T b.1909. I am pretty sure it's him, so possibly can eliminate from your search.

Thanks Nova67.

There is also the possibility of the marriage in West Ham:
Registered: June Q 1919
Arthur T Russell
to Mabel E Reed
West Ham
v4a p867
A marriage certificate would at least give you his father's name and occupation, but I know it can be a waste of money if incorrect!
Sometimes people don't use the middle name on official documents either, or acquire one post birth registration, which makes searching for a death or marriage tricky.
