Title: 1911 Census - John McDonald and Jane Ann Wild
Post by: valeriekerr11 on Sunday 07 April 13 23:37 BST (UK)
John McDonald c1882 and Jane Ann Wild c1881-1884 were married in 2nd Quarter 1902 in Middlesborough. I am trying to find them in the 1911 census to confirm birth year and city for Jane so I can then hopefully find her birth.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Valerie

Due to copyright & legal issues we are unable to tell you what is on the 1911 census!

Sorry!

You could try one of the pay-per-view services?

Ancestry (who did have a free lookup offer on 1911)

Thank you, I've only just discovered the information and it was too late to take advantage of the Ancestry offer.

Where was John born, and do you have him in the 1901 census? Do you have Jane in the 1901 census? (Just looking for further details about the couple  :))

I think this is John in 1901:
Age 19 birthplace Gorton, Lancashire
Registration district Chorlton sub district Ardwick
his parents were John (1850, Manchester) and Mary (1848, Ireland)
and a sister Teresa (1877, Gorton) from 1881 census
There was a Jane Ann Wild born in 1884 in Manchester but I can't confirm if that is correct as I don't have her age in 1911!

Have you found John and Jane in 1891?

What is Jane's father's name and occupation according to her marriage certificate? How old were they when they married?

I don't think this is your John. Was your John a Telegraphist at the GPO on his marriage certificate?

Before we can progress with this we need know the information from the marriage certifcate so we find John in the censuses.

I've discounted this now as I found the same family on findmypast and John from Gorton is still single in 1911, so, I still haven't found John and Jane in Yorkshire in 1911 (married 9 years). The only child I have for them is Leonard McDonald birth recorded Sep 1914 in Middlesborough with a mother's maiden name of Wild.

I don't have the marriage certificate yet, where's the best place to order it from online?

I take it you don't have the marriage certificate?  :-\

It might be a good idea to purchase it - we will at least then find out father's names and occupations, ages of John and Jane, etc which may make it easier to trace the families in the earlier censuses. And of course you will be sure that you are following the right families.

I ws just about to post this and saw your message. The GRO is probably the easiest. Do you have the reference details for the marriage from Freebmd?
