there are three monuments in the church, though not as recent as 1876. The east window is in memory of Lady C Harcourt dd 1878. more info re building on wwwsussexparishchurches

Thank you for the information.

Do you know of anywhere else a burial may have taken place nearby at all?

Two other Churches near Buxted: Maresfield and Framfield. Who are you looking for?

Mary Jane Baldock or Jane Baldock who died 1876.

In the 1871 census she is at Half Acre Hills, Buxted.

The lady I am looking for was Jane Baldock but the death entry for Mary Jane Baldock ties in with a birthdate of 1790.

whilst looking, can I assume that she was unmarried?

She was the widow of Oliver Baldock.

Ive seen from Familysearch that Mary Jane Baldock was buried on 8 Sept 1876.  Presumably either buried in an unmarked grave or a lost stone.

I have only found one Baldock so far. too old to be yours, though. Mary Baldock aged 65-69 in 1841. wife of Benjamin. Buried in Mayfield, (which is fairly close to Buxted, as you probably know) in about 1875/6. had been living at Reedings Farm, Mayfield. Possible parents in law? Have you looked at theweald.org- a very interesting site, where you might find more
