Title: McElderry of Ballymoney, Antrim, N. Ireland
Post by: mmmmikkimac on Thursday 04 April 13 08:34 BST (UK)

Seeking information on the McElderry Family of Ballymoney. I have been told that the name  has also been known as MacIlderry and the Gaelic is Mac Giolla Dorcha or dorcha, dark. It was a well known name in Co. Tyrone as well as Antrim. So far, all the records I have came across in genealogy websites only list McElderry's from 1850 to 1925.

Known information:
Patrick McEldery,  in Ireland c 1690

John McElderry,
b ca 1721 Ballymoney, Antrim, N. Ireland
d  Pennsylvania or Ohio USA
married ?  Ruth ?

Jonathan Webster McElderry b ca 1771 Ballymoney, Antrim N. Ireland d ca 1848 OH, USA
he married Margaret McCabe b ca 1773  d  1838 OH

It is also been posted that he was born in Derry, Cavan, Ireland,

Thanks

Mikki
