Hi
was just wondering if there was anyone out there with any old photos of pubs in Maidstone, my family ran a number of them up until the 1930s and it would be good to put some pictures to the stories.
The drinking establishments in question were the Nags Head on Week Street, the Duke of Cambridge on the Sandling Lane and The Running Horse on the Sandling Road
Cheers
Paul

You might find something among the Maidstone Collection of the Kent Photo Archive

This lists previous landlords as well.

Hello,
From the 1850s to about 1903, my husband's family (on his mother's side), the LOCKYER's, ran the Nags Head in Week Street, Maidstone. As far back as the 1840s they also had an association with the Union Flag pub, 72 Union Street, Maidstone (later re-named the Style and Wynch). The family was also in the building trade (they seem to have run a building, sign writing and painting business whilst also running the pubs). Would love to hear back from you.

Another source to maybe look at is Old Maidstone's Public Houses from Old Photographs by Irene Hales. If your lucky, you might find one of your buildings in it
I found this book when I was looking for pictures for the Royal Dragoon which use to be in Kings Street as my ancestors use to run it. Sadly there were no pictures in the book :(
