Hi M,
Although now deceased, my Uncle served with the Glosters and was taken prisoner at the Battle of Cassel during the retreat to Dunkirk, being captured on 29th May 1940 until disembarking in the UK on 10th May 1945. His POW Number was 10776 in Stalag VIIIB, and he was 5184771 Pte William Henry PARKER and he also appears on Page 67 of the Imjin Roll having been recalled from the Reserve to serve in Korea. A REAL soldier!
Any data you might have would be appreciated and well looked after as I am the family historian.

Hello M,
I know it's a long shot but does the name David Matheson appear amongst your papers?

Hi Mark,
Sorry that I haven't got back to you until now, but I would be very interested in your feedback.
Please make the subject matter Stalag VIII as you will end up in my Junk box.

Hi Victor - Drop me a PM if you are interested in obtaining the 2 Glosters war diaries along with some personal accounts written by officers from the 2 Glosters that were captured at Cassel. Some of the accounts contain excellent sketch maps on the Glosters positions at Cassel - In fact I'll be in Cassel in 12 weeks :)

Hi Drew,
My Uncle, 5184771 Private W.H. Parker, Glosters, was captured at Cassel during the retreat to Dunkirk, and was repatriated back to England from Stalag V111 at the end of World War II. He was also called up to Korea, whilst on the Reserve, but managed to escape to UN lines at the battle of Imjin River.
I've sent you a pm with my contact details.
Many thank for your kind offer.
