Title: Royal Military Academy Sandhurst
Post by: hazel.bevis on Monday 01 April 13 22:54 BST (UK)
Please could anyone see if they are able to locate information re a Frederick Harding from Camberwell b c1877. He is on the 1911 census aged 33 Army Musician, Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. b Camberwell married to Kate Breakspear 1902. I am having difficulty finding information on his whereabouts between his birth and 1911. I know that he was involved in the Boer War for part of that time. Which military records should I search to obtain this information, where are they located and are any of them available to search online? Any information welcome. Where are the records for this time period at Sandhurst located and how accessible are they?

Chances are if he's listed as a musician that he was not an officer but Other Ranks: officers were normally enumerated as such. All service records are at the National Archives, see their Research Guides:

It would really help if you knew his Regiment. And if you are sure that he was in the Boer War you might be able to get to him that way, via the campaign medals, which are indexed on Ancestry.

You might also find this useful: http://www.sandhurstcollection.org.uk/ - there is a contact form.
