Title: Alcock Family Sligo
Post by: johnshaw on Tuesday 07 June 05 12:57 BST (UK)
my family in Sligo are Alcock of Chacefield and Mweelroe, the earliest of this name found are in the Achonary area in the Flax growers list 1790s and the tithe of 1825.

My earliest I know of is Richard Alcock, Chacefield b 1795 (approx),GGGG/F -  Thomas Alcock, Mweelroe b 1842 (approx) GGG/F and my Grandfather Edward Alcock b 1863 approx in Mweelroe.

Any other Alcocks from there out there?

I am from Wisconsin with the last name of Allcox.  I have traced our family tree to a Great-Great-Grandfather Peter Alcock from Sligo.  Came to the use about 1840 and ended up in Ohio then Wisconsin.  Last name has been found as Allcocks, Alcocks, Alcox and Allcox.  Think there is any connection?
