Hi there,
I was a member here a long time ago. Sorry if I have listed in the wrong spot, this is all very confusing.
Seeking any details of my great grandparents Terence O'Donnell & Amelia O'Donnell ( nee Auhl ) .
No marriage certificate has ever been found, I know this already. My great grandmother often had her surname mispelt as Hall, same pronounciation, all searches under different variations of names has been sought over the years. So although no marriage cert has never been located , she was buried as Amelia O'Donnell. Her 1st husband being Thomas Johnson.
I have quite a few photos of her , but we have never seen a single photo of my great grandfather Terence.
Terence & Amelia had 2 children being Amelia Avaline O'Donnell and Terence Edward O'Donnell ( my grandfather ). We have found there was another child born before these 2 , we are unsure if this baby was a Johnson or O'Donnell, but seems to be listed as William Auhl born to Amelia, died as a baby.
Is anybody able to help with anymore info or a photo of Terence Patrick O'Donnell ? We would really love to see what he looked like.
Thank you,
Robyn

Hi RobynF,
Any dates to assist researchers, and also any ideas where they stayed or were born.
Welcome back, hope you are lucky with your research.

Hi Tom,
I will have to look up some dates tomorrow and come back.
Im pretty sure Terence Patrick O'Donnell was born in Tipperary, Ireland. I know some of our O'Donnells died in Goulburn. I think his fathers name was Hugh O'Donnell and his wife was Honora Ryan both dying in Goulburn. We have been told that our O'Donnells were wrestlers at the turn of the century lol. That is according to history in Goulburn.
Will come back with dates.
Thanks
Robyn :-)

Hi Robyn,
Don't have to be accurate dates, 1890's or 1900's etc would be useful.

Is this the Goulburn in New South Wales?
Civil registration of births, deaths and Catholic marriages in Ireland started in 1864 so if you are looking for information before that date you will need a more exact location (parish if not actual townland) than 'Tipperary' to see if any church records exist.

Just to add a rough date to this query. There is a death in 1893 of a William Auhl, with mother's name of Amelia Auhl in Geelong Victoria (Australia). And a birth of a William Gordon Auhl in 1800 again in Victoria and again with mother's name of Amelia Auhl.

I've found a marriage for her to Mr Johnson.
Emilia Auhl and Thomas Johnson in 1883 in Albury, New South Wales
Registration number 3342

Hi there,
I now have some dates, a little different from what I said. I may have jumped a generation or 2.
My Great Grandmother Amelia Dorothea Auhl was married before to Thomas Johnson , 1883.
There was a child born in 1893, William Auhl ( 2 yrs before my grandfather ) , unsure who the father is, it seems to be in between her marriage to Thomas and union with Terence. Im thinking that maybe Terence was the father.
Terence Patrick O'Donnell was born 5th Feb 1864 in Osborne's Flats in Victoria not Ireland as I thought. He died 2 April 1949 Albury NSW.
His wife , my Great Grandmother Amelia Dorothea Auhl was born in 1859, Lyndock , S.A.
Terence Patrick O'Donnell's father was also of same name Terence O'Donnell ( unsure of middle name ) and he was born about 1819 in Tipperary, Munster, he died 4 Sept Wodonga, Victoria.
He was married to Honora Mary Ryan and they married Sept 1849 in Cashell, Tipperary, Ireland.
Next Generation, also same name Terence O'Donnell born about 1783 in Cashell, Ireland. Died Feb 1861 in Goulburn NSW. He was married to Mary Hickey.
Next Generation was Hugh O'Donnell, unsure of rest of info.
Any help with locating more info or others related to these O'Donnells or photos would be greatly appreciated.
My grandfathers birth certificate says his mother was Millie Hall , this is a mistake in his mums name. Auhl is almost the same sound as Hall and Millie must have been a nick name for Amelia. His marriage cert to my grandmother has his mums right spelling of Auhl on it. Still yet to get this corrected.
My grandfather Terence Edward O'Donnell was born 1895 in Albury, his sister was born 3 years later and her name was Amelia Avaline O'Donnell.
Any help much appreciated,
Robyn
