The Royal Canadian Regiment was formed on December 21, 1883. This year will be our 130th Anniversary and us shared with the Royal Canadian Dragoons.
Hope this helps.

Another thought on the subject. There was a Regiment within the British Army that served in Canada until about 1867. It was the Royal Canadian Rifle Regiment, (not to be confused with our Royal Canadian Regiment),. It was made up of invalid soldiers and those close to pension. My great great grandfather served with this regiment and remained in Canada after pension. The Regiment was stationed in Halifax, Montreal, Quebec, Kingston and Niagara over the years.
