Title: Courtney family in Dundee in 1880's - descendants still around?
Post by: Alba11 on Saturday 23 March 13 16:05 GMT (UK)
A family of Americans are visiting Dundee in the summer of this year.  Has anyone researched the Courtney family in Dundee in the 1880's.   James Courtney married in 1881 Christina Lapen and one child was Andrina Smith Thomson Courtney.  Does that ring a bell in your own researches?  I know that the family would be thrilled if there were any descendants from that marriage and siblings of Andrina.  Thanks for your help.

There is a family tree on ancestry which lists other children to this couple.

Agnes Anderson Courtney 1889  and Joan Sim Courtney 1894

The more info that is found on here, increases the chances of a relative picking it up through google   ;)

Many thanks for your message. A friend did a few look ups for me (thank you very much to the friend - much appreciated  ;D)  So far she has not uncovered the death of James Courtney, apparently named as Merchant Seaman on the marriage of Andrina (Annie in 1903) as you also indicated.

Just to go a stage further with the siblings of Andrina - quite possibly these are the marriages of the children of James Courtney and Christina Lapere:-

James Lapene Courtney married Elizabeth (Lizzie ) Duff 1908 and he died 1954 Dundee.

John married  Jane Samson or Johnstone 1921 Dundee died there in 1949

Agnes married George Fleming 1912 Dundee and died there in 1969

Joan Courtney married William McDonald 1915 Dundee died there in 1968.

Apparently you would be able to download all the certs on Scotlands people -

except for the deaths for Christina and Agnes.

Regards
Sandra
