Hi folks not been on for a wee while but hope someone can help,
would any posters have any older family members who remember bombing raids in Glasgow in WW II.
I am looking for information on one bombing raid in particular that may have been in the Gorbals or an area close by, this was unusually during the day and where sadly about a dozen young children were found deceased in their chairs whilst attending a birthday party inside a church.
I believe the church was not damaged except for the windows and all the children were killed not by the flying glass but by the shock wave.
horrific but any advice or info would be appreciated.
thanks,
scott

Hi Scott,
Perhaps you already know of this website www.hiddenglasgow.com - there is a forum Bombs over Glasgow in WW2 with about 40 odd pages of information posted by contributors?
Don't have any info myself to help, sorry. Just thought I'd mention the above :)
Cheers

that's great loobyloo,
it would be interesting to find this info as my dad witnessed it and helped in the rescue and was deeply affected by it for the rest of his life.
thanks,
scott

How awful for your dad!
Good luck with your research, I hope you find the info you want.

Just remembered Scott.
The Commonwealth War Graves website www.cwgc.org has all civilian war dead recorded onsite- names, ages where and when killed. Might take a lot of research when you don't have a name but the website can be searched without one...
Best of luck,
