I would love to hear from anyone willing to do a lookup up in the Cancelled Land books available at the Lands Valuation Office for me. Thanks, Katharine.

Which county/counties are you looking for?
Northern Ireland ones will soon be on PRONI's website-

Hi,
The Revision Books are due to be put on-line on 27 March 2013.

In hindsight I should have put that in the original message!
I am after county Wexford initially. Thanks.

It might be an idea to mention the specific timeframe and location (i.e. townland, civil parish, electoral district) you are interested in, in case someone else plans to carry out a search of the same books and dates.

Duncormick parish, anytime from the start of the book to probably the end of the 19th century.
-
So the Electoral district is probably Duncormick also. The books are by DED so that's the first detail you require when searching, and then sub-divided by civil parish. As populations changed over time townlands were sometimes reassigned to neighbouring DEDs, so can involve searching several volumes.
Every ten years or so the current book is 'cancelled' and a new one started, so there will be a number of books covering the dates involved.

Do you know in what format they will be ?
Thanks

PRONI are supposed to be adding the database- www.proni.gov.uk but it is for Northern Ireland counties only.

Hi Aghadowey,
Thanks for that !
Do you know if there will be actual images or just transcriptions ?

From a post on Claire Santry's blog (http://irish-genealogy-news.blogspot.ie/2013/03/stand-by-for-griffiths-valuation.html) :
'....Due to their nature, Revision Books are searchable by location rather than name, and they have been digitised and indexed for online release in the same manner....'
Claire spoke to the people from PRONI at the recent WDYTYA live event.
I suspect the system will possibly consist of a browse by location, i.e. DED, then parish, then townland, or street for urban areas - maybe also a search by a combination of these. So sounds like there will be images.. to go with the index

Sounds Good Shane !
Thanks a mill...

However....in relation to my original post...these upcoming release from PRONI only covers the counties in Northern Ireland, whereas I am seeking information from county Wexford. These are not online, as far as I am aware.
Is anyone going to the Valuation Office by any chance and can do a lookup for me?
Katharine.
