Hi
Would someone be so kind and date my four pictures, could you also tell me whether you think it is the same lady.
Thanks
Alison

Ladies 1, 2 and 4 have wedding rings - lady 3 doesn't.
Lady 1 is different from ladies 2, 4 and 3.
I think you have three ladies here. 1, 2 and 4, and 3 :)
China and Jim will be able to help with the dates soon.
-
I think 3 and 4 could be the same person before & after marriage,
the photographer's lighting can make a difference on facial shadows also.

Thanks for your views. I hope once they are dated I can figure out who they are.

HI,
As no one has put forward any dates, does anyone know where else I can attempt to get this information from
Thanks

i googled the photographers name and address john hart photographer city road e c . and it comes up england early 1900s,even gives his family tree so you should get a timeline from that.
-
Yes, John Hart died in 1901 but his studio carried on until 1922. Dates for the City Road address can be found at Photolondon.
It's the 275 Leytonstone Road address that's the problem, and also the lady's bodice which is a bit of a mix of styles. Even Old Rowley, a Rootschatter with access to a great deal of photographer info, couldn't find dates for the Leytonstone Rd studio.
So I'm going to say about 1902, 1903ish for the first photo.
Second photo, mid 1890s and the third one a bit later. Last photo not too sure but about 1900 or so.
Is there any printing on any of the backs?
Cheers,
China

1st.late 1880's
Okay. Bit of a pouched front to the bodice, ambiguous. And the skirt is more of an 1890s style....but the sleeves, late 1880s but before 1889 when the shape of the shoulder changed.
Don't go putting on airs now, Jim ;D

Thanks everyone.
Photos 2 and 3 were taken at G A Baker, 28 Jubilee Street Commerical Road. They do not have the backs on them but I have another photo of a man and it looks like the same studio and his does have a back which states G.A Baker.
Thanks again.

This is the other photo.
-
Could we see the back please?
-
A very poor copy & there's not much detail to see.I'm not sure if there's a seperate buttonhole for the watch chain which would be significant.
As China says we need the back.

So you didn't notice the extra drapery for the bustle then..not that I'd split hairs of course.

Thanks.
Give me five and I will get the picture of the back up.

Here it is. :)

Typical 1890's back but which first appeared v.late 1880's.

Thought she just had tennis elbow, Jim ;D
The gent's pic is a bit pixellated but I think there is a separate watch chain hole...that would put it after 1888 which is when the style became popular.

Thank you very much for kindly taking you time to date these pictures. The dates you have given me esp for lady 2 and lady 3 make sense. I believe lady 3 is my great grandmother and lady 2 looks so similar I think it is highly likely she is her mother my great great grandmother.
