Title: John Lansdown-born c.1833 Westminster
Post by: mrstmls on Thursday 21 March 13 18:27 GMT (UK)
Looking for proof of birth for my great-great grandfather, John Lansdown c.1833 (as per census returns) in the Westminster area. Supposedly the son of James Lansdown and Margaret Mathews. I can't find the family at all for the 1841 census. His first wife died and he married Sarah Elizabeth Brown in 1871. Other descendants have had no success and have indicated that he may of been illegitimate. Any help is appreciated.

In 1851 there's a John Lansdown, 17 b Westminster, in Kensington with parents Francis and Margaret. Could he be the one? HO107/1468/156/17.

Edit: even better, on looking at the actual return, his father is in fact James :)

According to the children's birthplaces, the family should be in Kensington in 1841.

Unfortunately part of the Kensington 1841 census is lost :(. See www.findmypast.co.uk/help-and-advice/knowledge-base/census/known-issues#1

Just my luck on the 1841 census. But still would like to find his birth.
