My starting point is with my ancestor Eliza Buckingham, b. 1823 in Witney(Wesleyan). I found her birth listed on FamilySearch.org with her father being Thomas and mother is Elizabeth. They possibly also had another daughter, Julia, in 1827. Then it is all a muddle. Is he the son of William and Anne Eveness? I would have guessed he was born 1790-1800ish. I can't find him on the 1841 census. Any help to clarify is appreciated. Too many Buckingham's in that area.

I checked the Witney Wesleyan Register & found Eliza's baptism -6 Jul 1823 dau of Thomas & Elizabeth (father weaver). I couldn't find any other relevant entries, but in the Parish register of St Mary's Witney there was a marriage:
19 Jul 1820 Thomas Buckingham (wid) & Elizabeth Day (wid) - wit T Thorley & M Thorley
Nonconformists would have had to marry in the Church of England at that date, I believe, so this could be Eliza's parents.
There was an earlier marriage - Thomas Buckingham & Sarah Reeves in 1802, but I couldn't find any children baptised or a burial for Sarah.
There is also a burial at St Marys for a Thomas Buckingham on 3 Nov 1826 (aged 56). So maybe his birth was c1770 - if this the right one

Wonderful news. The marriage in 1820 would fit in well. There were many Thomas' listed for possible deaths c1825-1850, so still a bit uncertain about his birth and parents. Many thanks.
