On my mothers birth certificate (born in Chelsea, London) it states her father was Thomas Williams a general labourer of 35 Victoria Street Liverpool in March 1928. I can't trace him or a marriage to my grandmother. My grandmother was from Galway and my mum never knew her father as he had "died" when she was a baby. Anyone help?

Hi
What was your grandmothers name on the birth cert. If she is shown as Williams - what maiden name is shown

From pm info - grandmother was Elizabeth Williams nee Colohan

It looks like she had a brother J P Williams b 1930 according to www.freebmd.org.uk
If that is the case - do you know anything about him ?

Hi Allan
I have been in pm touch with JoDee as I had also found that birth. There was nothing known about this child so he is going to send for the birth cert. The child died in the same qtr as the birth was registered but in a different RD
Apparently JoDee's mother was taken to Ireland by an aunt not long after her birth and was raised by the aunt. His grandmother remained in England for an unknown period and then returned to Ireland. Both mother and grandmother are now deceased - 1995 and 1997.
There is another birth in 1949 with the same surname and mmn and again no marriage. However -it is unlikely to be connected given the gap in time.
The only marriage in Ireland for an Elizabeth Colohan was 1927 Dublin North but it doesn't x-ref to a Williams
