Title: Please Restore/Date 2xGreat Granny Florence Catt
Post by: JRS-Royal on Monday 18 March 13 16:48 GMT (UK)
Good afternoon everyone,

Haven't been on here since middle of last year after you did some amazing restores on other family members. I have now received a picture of my Great Great Gran Florence Catt (1892-1972).

Just wondered and hoped that you could improve this as it is a bit damaged, creased after all these years. Any colour would be lovely but not essential. Also wondered if you could put an estimate on the date. Hope you wonderful people can help me once again.

Many thanks in advance.

James

Hi James

One from me.  Love the fact she's holding a monkey!  :D

Just changed the border so it's not so contrasting.

Thanks very much Caroline. Much better now.  ;D

Yes the monkey is an odd one. It was a photo taken in Hastings, Sussex. Guessing around the 1950's/60's. Not sure if it was her monkey, I presume it wasn't. May have been a show/zoo etc.  :P

You're welcome.

Quite a talking point!  :D  Have a few relatives hail from Hastings/Brighton area, wonder if they ever came across a monkey at the seaside!  ;D

Yeah I have relatives on my Mum's side all from the Tonbridge Kent, Brighton/Hastings Sussex area.

Catt, Marchant, Peach were the surnames.

I used to live in Uckfield fairly close to Brighton.

Sadly no.  My lot from that area consisted of Emery, Bishop, Bolingbroke, Hillman, Foster, Browne and Wilkinson with connections to Kingsnorth (originally from Kent).

You never know though some day down the track!  :)

There was a photographer at the Dreamland amusement park in Margate in the 50s who had a similar monkey. I had a photo taken with him in about 1956, so I guess that it was a fairly common practice then. Chrisann
