I am researching my ancestors, who were named Fewster and Horwood. Edwin Fewster married Hester Horwood. They had William Fewster at sea in 1840. They arrived aboard the "Eliza" on May 14th 1840.
William was my gg grandfather and married Mary Ann Langley (2nd wife) and Ruth Richmond (1st wife). I come from Mary Ann Langley and William Fewster. I know very little about them, but I get the impression they were fairly affluent.
I don't really know where to go from now to search for more information. I have been to trove.

Thanks for that info. What I would specifically like to know is where they actually came from and who with. I have found one branch of my tree where all the family including in-laws came out together, so they had a whole network of support in this country. I would like to know if they were affluent or not and what they did for a living in Adelaide. I have seen trove articles where a marriage is announced, referring to the men as 'esquire'. What does that mean as far as social status? All very interesting. this is the part of the family I know little of.
Thanks to those who have taken the time to help.

There are a quite a few trees on ancestry some of which have Edwin's parents as Thomas Fewster 17890 and Sarah Vizer 1779 to 1852. If you don't have ancestry your local library may have it.

Should have added that the Biographical Index of SA is not always correct.
I have found on TROVE that Henry FEWSTER m. Emily EDSON in Melbourne.

There is a photo of Felix House (mentioned in Wm's obituary) on State library website.

If that doesn't work I just googled Felix House.

Searching Trove newspapers for the exact phrase "Felix House" brings a lot of results. Some of them mention events to do with the Fewster family.
