Title: Turriff Agricultural Fair
Post by: lawrenceb on Monday 11 March 13 19:35 GMT (UK)
Does anyone know of any online resources about the Turriff Fair in the late 19th and early 20th century?  My greatgrandfather worked on Aberdeenshire farms and apparently won medals or awards or commendations for cattle at this event.
Thanks

You could contact the secretary of the Turriff and District Agricultural Association which runs the show to see if she knows about old records. Google "Turriff Show" and you'll get her e-mail. It is likely that the best source would be the accounts in the local newspapers at the time. I have found very detailed accounts of ploughing matches and the like in the papers.
