Sorry, but I am a newcomer and can't understand this website.  I have received my PFH today and I have corkcutters among my ancestors.  The name is Shaboe and they lived in Bethnal Green.

My fathers maternal Grandfather was a Cork Cutter in Glasgow and later in Edinburgh.
His marriage records report him as a Cork Cutter in 1865 in Glasgow although he was born in EDN circa 1843 and he was married in EDN. in 1865.
He must have moved back to EDN approx 1875 as the 1881 Census has him as a Corkcutter.  His name was James Rankine(- spelled Ranken in some documents.).
I recently read Cheryl Baileys article in a  Family History Magazine that a friend  lent me to read.  I would like to thank Cheryl for that article as it enlightened me to the secrets of the Trade as it was back then.
