Title: help with condition on marriage cert
Post by: Sam Stoat on Wednesday 06 March 13 16:05 GMT (UK)
I need some help with the condition on this marriage certificate. I can read 'formerly the husband of Agnes Calder formerly Burnley (?) (?) from whom he obtained a divorce'. Can anyone read the missing words?

I think the word just says 'spinster.'

Now you mention it, it does look like that. Thank you.

On my great grandparents' certificate my great grandfather is described as a bachelor despite having been married before. So, he was probably a widower or divorcee. But! no-one has so far traced the divorce or death. So, there is a remote posibility it could be more interesting!
