Title: Smith + Parker Family
Post by: Tanya_Arnold on Sunday 03 March 13 09:13 GMT (UK)
Henry Charles Smith
Born: 1792 in Hampshire, England

Sarah (Wife of above)
Born:1798 Chelmsford, Essex, England

Children of above:

Eleonora Smith
Born: 1829 in Leatherhead, Surrey, England

George Smith
Born: 1829 in Suffolk, England

Wife of George Smith:
Susan
Born: 1831 in Belchamp Walter, Essex, England

Children of George + Susan:

Jane B. 1853
William B. 1856
George B 1861
Charles B. 1864
Thomas B. 1868 D. 1914
John B. 1869
Samuel B. 1874
Lizzie B. 1877
---------------------------------
Thomas Smith
Born: 1868 in Stoke, Suffolk, England
Death: 1914 in Cambridgeshire, England

Married in 1896 to...
Fanny Parker
Born: 1874 in Suffolk, England
Death: 1914 in Cambridgeshire, England

Parents to Fanny Parker:
Henry Parker
Born: 1848 in Suffolk, England

Susan Honeyball
Born: 1848 in Suffolk, England

Children of Thomas + Fanny:

Alice Maud Smith
Born: 1898 in Cambridgeshire, England
Death: 1982 in Cambridgeshire, England

Hilda Lilian Smith
Born: 1902 in Cambridgeshire, England
Death: 1992 in Hertfordshire, England

Lavinia Elizabeth Smith
Born:1905 in Cambridgeshire, England
Death: 1992 in Norwich, Norfolk, England

These three children ended up in a workhouse after there parents died in 1914. I do know that Alice and Hilda went to a London workhouse but I don't know what it was called and no one in the family knew about Lavinia. So what happened to Lavinia and what workhouse was Alice and Hilda in?

If anyone has any info on the Smith or Parker family going any further back to what I have on here then that would be great! :) What happened to the Smith and Parker Family?

Thank You

Hi Tanya,
Starting from the beginning do you have any evidence that he was Henry Charles Smith?

I have only found them in 1871 so far, Henry as Henry C Smith.

AH just got them 1851;
Henry c 1791 Fredingbridge, Hampshire!
Sarah c 1799 Chilnorfe, Essex

I see Eleanora is with them in 1871 born c 1841, Leatherhead?

Do you have them in 1841?

Trish :)

Henry Curtis SMITH Christened 25 March 1792, Fordingbridge, Hampshire
Parents JAMES/ELIZABETH

Death Reg;
Dec 1878, SMITH, Henry Curtis, Chertsey, 2a 30, age 86

Looks to me he was Henry Curtis, not Henry Charles

Several Death Regs for a Sarah Smith 1871/1881 in Surrey of right age.

Try as I may I cant see how Goorge Smith c 1829/1832 born Stoke, Suffolk, with Wife Susan links to Henry C/Sarah Smith?

Doe you have a Child of George/Susan's Birth Cert to confirm her maiden name?
Their Marriage Cert to confirm his Fathers name Occp?

Trish :)

Jane B. 1853
William B. 1856
George B 1861
Charles B. 1864
Thomas B. 1868 D. 1914
John B. 1869
Samuel B. 1874
Lizzie B. 1877

You have missed WALTER 1858 on 1861 Census (down as Walton)
1861 Susan is born c 1832, Betcham, Warter (sic), Goerge c 1832, Stoke, Suffolk

Now in 1871 Walter is not there (died/left home?) but living near to George/Susan is a WALTER Smith c 1837 Stoke (possible Brother for George?)

This is how I see it and you may disagree.

1841 Census
Stoke, Suffolk
1033/6/5/2
Charles SMITH, 34, Ag Lab
Eliza, 32
GEORGE, 10
Sophy, 7
William, 5
Charles, 1
All born in County

1851 Census
Stoke, Suffolk
86/1787/580/21
Charles SMITH, 43, Head, Mar, Farm Labourer
Elizar, 42, Wife, Mar, Platter
GEORGE, 19, Son, Unm, Horse Keeper
Sophia, 17, Daug, Unm, Platter

Thos, 7, Son, Platter
Rebeca, 2, Daug
Mary BARRETT, 67, Mother, Widow

So Mary is Charles Mother and has Married a Barret and then been Widowed again

By 1861 George has Married SUSAN

1871 c 1829 Stoke
1881 c 1831 Stoke

Hi Tanya,

Are your Smiths and Parkers Romany folk? If so the Smith family in the cambridgeshire area are very much interlinked with the Loveridges and sometimes used both surnames and if memory serves me correctly I think the Parker family in some cases used the surname Draper.
Regards
Lyne
