Title: Teeside Archives Middlesborough lookup request
Post by: AfricanDream on Saturday 02 March 13 00:35 GMT (UK)
Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me out with an address lookup in the 1920's electoral rolls at the Teeside Archives.
I'm trying to find out who was living at 12 Walton Street Middlesborough 1923-1925.

Jan 4th 1924 a Mrs ES Jones boarded a ship to India with 2 children and an infant. Her husband, CW Jones, sailed in 1923. She gave this address on the passenger list and I'm hoping to find the rest of the family who were left behind.

I'd appreciate any help :)

Hi,  Not good news I'm afraid. I was unable to find a Walton Street in M'bro.  Found one in Stockton on Tees Co.Durham.  Unfortunately there are no Electoral Roll records for the years 1919 through to 1926.  I see Mr Jones gave his address as 12 Milton Street M'bro.  Checked this address from Autumn 1922 to Autumn 1924. No family with the name Jones living anywhere in this street. Sorry..   I will search some more next week.

  Eddie.

Thanks so much Eddie. That's very kind of you.
Other names connected to this family are Taaffe, Kirby, Green, Piggott, Goodenough,Griffith, if you happen to spot them in the street :)

Hi,
I have found another possible address in Middlesbrough.

The Jones family appear in the 1911 census at 21 Carlton Street Middlesbrough. Is there any way of checking how long they stay there?

Hi  AfricanDream,
Looking through some more Electoral Rolls today came upon your Jones family.
1913 roll has a Charles William Jones living at 21 Carlton Street M'bro.                                     Also on the 1913 roll is a Charles William Jones living at 64 Church Street M'bro.

Jump forward now to 1922 Spring Roll.
21 Carlton Street.  Elizabeth Jones.  Cyril Jones. Harry Jones. They are C W's brothers.
Also at 6 Carlton Street is a Walter Piggott..

I will look some more next week.

 Eddie.

Oh wow, Eddie, thanks so much! Elizabeth Jones is CW's mother, but also his wife, so it could be either. Walter Piggott is Elizabeth's(mother) brother-in-law, married to her sister Kate, nee' Goodenough.

21 Carlton street is the address given by Albert Harry Jones on his WW1 records for his mother:)

This means that CW Jones and his wife ES Jones must have left their children at either of these addresses when they went to South Africa.
