My great grandfather Walter John Frith is buried in Section X Plot 141 according to the copy of the burial register obtained from Manchester City Council.
I have never been able to trace him in any birth register and sadly don't live close enough to visit the grave myself to find out if there is a gravestone which may give his birthdate. Does anyone know if there are photographs of gravestones available online?
Many thanks

Hi
A tree on An****ry gives him a birthdate of 27 Dec. 1892, its a very detailed tree, with photos, dates etc. of family.
His Army pension record is also available ti view on An****ry.

Passing Southern on Sunday to get to our 'Cemetery Project' will pop in and take a look and get a pic of stone if there is one for you.

Thank you Claire - the tree on Ancestry is mine and the birthdate taken from a railway record (but I'm not convinced its accurate).
Cancan thank you so much it's really kind of you to go to the trouble. I suspect his wife Amy may also be buried in the same plot. Looking at a lot of the records it seems that he dropped "Walter" when it suited him and on the burial register it has been added afterwards. Thank you once again.

I read you can't take pictures in Manchester cemeteries without express permission from the council. Seems like a lot of red tape.
