Any help welcome.
Grandfather Abraham John Margetson (known as Jack) b24.12.1899 served 1917 - 1920. lived North Shields 1917. Uniform cap badge shows Army Veterinary Corps (AVC). Served out in Suez area.
Does anyone known if any units from Northumberland Fusiliers or Durham Light Infantry served in north Africa towards the end of the war which had a AVC with them?

Google Northumberland Fusiliers Egypt ww1
There seems to be a slight confusion with the subject heading "Northumberland Dragoon Guards"
Can only find reference to Northumberland Hussars, But then you ask for info on the Northumberland Fusiliers and The DLI, Certainly the Northumberland Fusiliers were in Egypt as a Garrison battalion, and most certainly there was AVC there, as a great deal of Cavalry and Yeomanry Units were there also. When the Palestine and Gallipoli Campaigns were drawn down thousands of horses were put down.

Unfortunately only going on bits of info I know.
His WW2 record shows that in WW1 his service was in the Dragoon Guards 1917-1920. I have established the cap badge is for the AVC. When I tried to find out who was recruiting around 1917/18 was advised Northumberland Fussiliers and the Durham Light Infantry.

Hello. Are you still working on this tree?
If so, I would like to talk.

You are mixing up your regts. He was not DLI or NF as they are infantry, by 1917/18 you went where the gaps were not who was your local regt in the pre-war recruiting period.
If he was DG then he was cavalry. There were 7 regts of DG: 1st-7th.
AVC is a totally separate Corps.
