Hi Maggie...To help us to get the most out of your photo could you rescan it at a resolution of 300dpi to bring out the detail...this is scanned at a very low 72 Dpi...There is a tutorial at the top of the board.

Hi Maggie...It is now 300dpi so well done on that...but you needed to say it to best quality with no compression.

Hi Maggie

Just trying to help but need to know how you scan. On your first post you said that you hadn't got the photo to rescan. For your second image, did you re-scan a copy of the image or did you just change the dpi of the file  to 300?

Hi Maggie

If you don't have the original, any scan will only be as good as the copy that you have. It is possible to do something with it - as in Maureen's  -  but it is very small and looks like the section shown below when enlarged.

I'll have a go later but have to go out this afternoon.

Hi Maggie

Just to let you know that I'm working on it. It's got some really bad vertical lines (possibly from photocopy/scanning) on top of all the other problems. It could take quite a while as I'm trying to stay as close to the original as possible and not use nasty smoothing filters  :-\

There looks to be a small figure to the left of the donkeys face - or am I seeing things. I thought first of all that it was part of the reins/eye piece but, on closer inspection,  I don't think so.

Here's a tiny snip/screen shot (66%) of where I am - with the saturation right down.  I think it will be the weekend before I finish it!

Hi Maggie

My eyes are playing tricks on this one for the moment. Will see if I can get more out of it tomorrow. In the meantime, here are a couple - one with grain and one with a bit of sandstione texture!
