The card has nothing on the back, It is thin with rounded corners as you can see. I'd like to have a date and hope that her dress makes it easy. She also needs a clean and tidy please.

Mid-late 1870's.I'm not sure what's going on behind this curtain.I can just detect what looks like a gloved hand holding the book. The poor lamb also looks like she's been clamped to a posing stand, unusual in the 1870's.Must have been a bit of a fidget.

Agree with Jim 1870s, but the rest of the scene is quite a bit earlier...the blank backdrop and the out-of-focus rug. The photographer must have been a bit behind the times. Or maybe a bit earlier in the decade? The dress and the chair are definitely 70s, so possibly more mid than late? Rounded corners came out in around 1875ish.
Can you imagine how much cat hair the fringe on the chair could collect? :D
I've been staring at this for a while looking for a hand holding the book but don't see one. The girl's sleeves are quite frilly and that might be what Jim's seeing.
Or perhaps he's left his specs on the nightstand again. Next to the glass with the teeth in it.
Hiya Jim ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Cheers,

I'm glad about that China because I couldn't see it either....more water with it Jin...Ooops Jim ;D ;D ;D

Thank you Jim and china for the dating and comments. The determined look on her face would fit well with a fidget who had been clamped down and couldn't wait to get free again.
Thank you Caroline and Carol for the great restores - colours are lovely.
Rapunzel :) :) :) :)

you can mock but I think it's a pinkie.
-
Maybe after a couple of shots of your absinthe I'll start seeing a pinkie too, Jim.
I have to admit, though, that the curtain is posed very strangely. Don't think I've seen one like that before and it does make me wonder if it's hiding something. Mama perhaps? "Do as you are TOLD and stand STILL. And wipe that scowl off your face THIS INSTANT."
;D ;D ;D ;D

I'm with Jim on this - I reckon mother is behind the curtain ;) Otherwise, why is it draped in that ridiculous way over the end of the book?
-
If you look closely you can see an extra shadow on the floor near the girls foot, which I think is the neck clamp
I think this may be slightly earlier but a nice photo
-
That's probably why Jim already said she's in a clamp.
-
one from me.., Tommy
-
When I look at the curtain I seem to see the shape of an arm in the curved fold leading to where Jim sees a finger.
Thank you tommy - she's lovely.
Rapunzel :)

I didn't want to mention the arm as I'd suffered enough ridicule.

Aw Jim...Only teasing :-*...I just couldn't see what you saw but the curtain is like that for a reason as Prue said.
