My grandmothers brother John Burt born circa 1875 and died 1939 in Midlothian. He was the second child of John Burt and Janet Whytock That is all I know of him.
His parents remained in Dunfirmline, Glencorse, Rumbingwell, Edinburgh, St Giles, South Midlothian from Census
There was an older sister Agnes 19 Aug 1872 died 7 Oct 1961.She was born in England and died in Cupar Fife. There have been a few family trees done but no one mentions these two. The reason I would like to find out about John is because I am curious about whom he married. Was it a lady called Jemima? When Grandma and Uncle Tommy came to Australia my mother was left in the care of Aunt Jemima. I do have some credits left with Scotlands people so will be able to search when I have some information. I have all information on the rest of the family.
Just another brick in the wall-this family is such a puzzle and RootsChat have helped before so I will thank you in advance

Hi
His death certificate should give his wife and parents , and there is 1 death for a John Burt in Midlothian in 1939 , but that is giving a birth year c1864 :-\

Think John Burt was born England.
In the 1901 Census there is a John Burt born c1875 England with wife Jemima living Midlothian.
Marriage John Burt / Jemima Belcher 1899 Midlothian
Death Jemima Burt(other surname Belcher) 1957 Midlothian , born c1876.
Not sure if any of that matches up ?

Hi
I know this is an old thread. But I am pretty sure the John you speak of is my Great Grandmothers brother. I would love to hear what else you may have found in in the time since posting here. And how we are related as my Great Grandmother came to Australia with my Grandfather as a child.
Hopefully you are still on these forums.

Hi Mukluk,
"Gmar" hasn't been on RootsChat, for almost 2 years, but if she has same email address, she may receive notification of your post. Good luck.
