Post by: 7 Emerald on Saturday 23 February 13 06:24 GMT (UK)
Hi, looking for info about the Scullys 7 Emerald Sq  Dolphins Barn.  Phil Scully married Monica Whelan mid 1920's. Monica was youngest of Pat and Anne Whelan also of Emerald Sq. Monica is my paternal grand mother. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to Rootschat, 7 Emerald. Is this address (7 Emerald Sq  Dolphins Barn) not in South Dublin? There are no Scullys there in 1911 census (latest available)

We can't post details of living people (or anyone who could be living) but may be able to help you with older family details with a bit more information from you.

Hi 7 Emerald Sq  :)

Patrick and Ann Whelan nee Dwyer were my great grandparents who lived at 7 Emerald Sq.
Monica would have been my grand aunt. Have a look at this link which I posted
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,594520.0.html

Let me know what you need to know.
BTW you might be able to help me with Ann Whelan nee dwyer whom I told is related to Michael Dwyer famous Wicklow rebel.

Hi, Genseacher.  She is my aunt.  Her brother Phil is my dad.  There were two more sisters as well I believe; Vera and Rita ?  I've just started researching and very much a novice in searching and computer skills.  I found the Whelans in both the 1901 and 1911 census and just happened to stumble on to your posts through a Google search.  I was over to Dublin in 1974 and met both my grandparents.  I also met two of our great aunts both of whom were still in Emerald Sq.  During the same trip I met My Aunt Vera and travelled to England, Liverpool area I think and met Kathleen and Rita(?). My parents passed shortly after and I've lost touch with my Dads' side of the family. It would be great to keep in touch with you and share whatever info you may have.                                    Regards 7 Emerald

Hi 7 Emerald

Just seen your post this evening. Before we can go any further you need to do 1 more post to access your private email and pm me. As we cannot post details of living relatives but I can pm you with those details and we can just post details of our deceased relatives here on the forum for others who may have some connections with research.

Hi 7 emerald

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Dublin/Usher_s_Quay/Emerald_Square/59588/

Michael Whelan was my grand dad he married a Jane Noctor from Tara Hill Wexford.
Michael Whelan was involved in the 1916 Rising and I am still doing research on this part.
Both my parents are alive. hence the need not to put anything online about them. But we can do it pm.

I have spent the last 12 years researching the Dwyer's side,  But you will be interested in what I have done on Dwyer's and sometimes other relatives like yourself could give me more info.

Hi, to everyone.  I'd like to apologize  for any breaches of etiquette.  Genseacher thanks for the info on the additional post.  Thanks to Diddymiller as well for the Marr cert..  That would be just about the right date and locale.  Hopefully I'll be able to access and send PM's now.

Hi 7 Emerald
I'm a descendant of another line of yours.
Patrick Whelan (1859) and his brother John (1855) were both born in County Carlow and were the sons of James Whelan and Frances Sheehan (1831) both of county Carlow.
Frances's brother Richard (1825) was my great great grandfather.

I believe Anne Dywer was also form Carlow?
