I am looking for any information on Diane De Ganay, born 1920 to Comte Bernard De Ganay, Paris. I think one of the large banking families. He died 1940 at family home in Arachon. Diane went to USA in 1947 and returned there in 1948 to marry William kitchel. On the passenger list she is down as divorced. Information on first marriage, any children?
Any ideas what would have happened to English employee, Eleanor Hill Irving, after 1940, we think she was interred by Vichy goverment, but where. Are there any lists?
Any help appreciated.

Hello,
For Eleanor Irving, I think you can contact an english man who writted a book about near of two thousands british civils, who was in France during WWII, internees by the germans in Germany and Spania. Unfortunely for you, his great work is only about bristish who was in the North of France. But I think he could help you to find the good ways for your research.
The germans occuped Arcachon from 30 Juin 1940.
Here the link for a newspaper article about this book:

Eleanor Hill Irving came to the USA with Diane De Ganay who married William Ray Kitchel in 1948. She was the "Nanny' to her two children, Laurence and Carole. She stayed with the family until her death in 1966.
