Can anyone help in my search for John Mavin, who was born in Horden, County Durham, his birth being registered in Q1, 1907. His father was Thomas Jackson Mavin (1877-1952). I found a record for his arrival in Canada on 30 June 1928 but no further information on him in the records I have access to. The arrival record states he was planning to be a farmer.

Hi,
According to the passenger list, he was going to Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Hi RunKitty.
Thank you so much for taking the time to look, as I had missed the clue to his destination.

According to the UK passenger lists, a John Mavin, born c1908, sailed to the UK in 1934, port of arrival was London, England. I cannot view further details. If Mavin is not a common surname, perhaps it might be your fellow?
This is a link to "prairie provinces" directories and newspapers. After a quick look, I did not see your man, but it was just a quick look.

Hi Lisa.
Thankyou for the lookup but I know that the John Mavin on the arrivals was a cousin of the John Mavin I am looking for. The John on the manifest was born 3 November 1907 in Seaham Harbour, County Durham, joined the Royal Navy and died in Plymouth, Devon, England in 1973.
Many thanks once again for your time and trouble.
Regards.
