Can anyone help me find anything about this lady's early life.
I believe she was born in 1813 - perhaps in Liverpool
She married John (sometimes James) Sharp in 1836 and they had several children.
The Blennerhasset name continued through some of their children but I can find no record of Mary Ellens family. It is such an unusual name it seems odd not to be able to trace it
Grateful for any help. Donut

Hi
Have you tried looking at Lancashire Online Parish Clerk http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/Search/indexp.html
There are 12 people with the name Blennerhasset baptised/buried in Liverpool. I cant see Mary Ellen, but you may be able to link her using family names. It could be a start.

Thanks for the info but haven't been able to progress. Have looked through these families and sadly can find no connection. Its as if she just "appeared " at the time of her marriage. Donut

I have a person with the surname Blennerhassett on one of my trees and he came from Ireland, so that maybe another place to try.

Hiya Donut ....
www.familysearch.org
england
mary ellen blennerhassett
birth
1810 - 1820
search
result ......note the surname spelling ???....
8th december 1836 in Cheshire
Mary Ellen Blennerhafsett to John Sharp
grooms age 21
brides age 21
film number 1894691
brides year of birth given as 1815 ( you think 1813 )
so - is that record a mistranscription ( wrong spelling of surname ) or ...was she baptised BLENNERHAFSETT ??
hope this might help
allan :)

Allan - IIRC that's the marriage licence/bond info as transcribed - if so the format on those I've seen usually has "21 & over" for age so perhaps "& over" has been lost in transcription?
Likewise the name - there was a form called a "long s" which looks like f in some scripts:

Hi Donut
Lots of hits on the Irish Genealogy website for Blennerhassett Mofid42's right. I had a quick look (unfortunately it's a paid site) and they are in all different counties - Limerick, Cork, Tipperary, Galway.
Best wishes
Maria
