Hmmm. I did most of that via Wikipedia!! ;D ;D

I'm looking forward to the Rob Lowe one as I know one of the US experts who will appear on the show! He was telling us all about the programme from his point of view which was very interesting.
Probably not get them all - just the ones the BBC think we'll have heard of.
-
I think you've hit the nail on the head, portybelle!
According to the Radio Times, tonight's episode is 1 of only 6 ::)
Carol Added: next week Helen Hunt 2/6.

It's twenty five past midnight in Scotland and NI. Next week Helen Hunt one isn't showing as being broadcast in Scotland at all but hopefully it'll just be a different day!

According to BBC it's on Wednesday technically (5 minutes past midnight):

Seems to be the case for Wales as well - ie only looks to be England that gets Tuesday 11.35pm

Don't forget you can watch on BBC iplayer. Just watched Helen Hunt episode where she discovers a ggg- granny who was a campaigner for women. Explanation on motives of Temperance Movement changed my opinion.

Wendy - I found that one really interesting on both the lines she looked at - classic goldrush stuff in that the money was made by those who supplied the miners (some well known names in there) and the women's pioneer ancestor in Maine.
I hope that as we aren't getting all the episodes they selected the most interesting rather than those they think are most well-known. I don't think I've ever seen Helen Hunt in anything, didn't prevent appreciation of the programme.

Helen Hunt was in 'As good as it gets' one of my OH's favs.
(I think???)

Could well be, but one I've seen - they did list some roles, but none that meant anything to me.

Judging by the (presumably abridged credits) the 6 celebs are Martin Sheen, Marisa Tomei, Helen Hunt, Edie Falco, Rob Lowe and Rasida Jones.
I watched both Martin Sheen and Helen Hunt via iplayer tonight. I liked the Spanish segment of Martin Sheen's programme - although with all those Martinez names on the family tree from the same village, I'm sure the trees converged sooner than what was shown (trying to be vague to avoid spoiling anything!).

Mine too! I know little about the Temperance Movement and had no idea that was a reason behind a lot of women's support for it.

Saw the Rob Lowe programme last night (recorded) - interesting definition of "revolutionary" to include those who paid taxes (to the winning side). I did enjoy the programme - the concentration on one person & the different records that were found made it interesting.
-
All of these so far have been extremely watchable and interesting. Have found everyone so far really fascinating and have learnt a lot, and it has prompted me to find out a little more about the social history at the time. Last night again, with Rob Lowe , was excellent.
-
I agree Ann - it's been a good series so far. Next week Edie Falco where she gets to Penzance - Tuesday 19th 11.35pm or an hour later in Scotland.
-
Just watched the Edie Falco episode which was really good, but left me with a whole load more questions to be answered! I was having a little rummage to see what I could find, and found Catherine Kindley mar William Bifield Brown in St Marys, Adelaide. She the came back to the UK to have CC Brown, before appearing in 1861 with husband and son in Canada! A well travelled woman!

Got a bit bored with this one, not nearly as interesting as the others. Ended up switching off.
