Hi,
Could sks please help me find the marriage details for:
Charlotte Sarah EDMONDS (chr 23 Apr 1845 at Guildford, Surrey)
married to
Henry HARMS (nothing else of him known so far)
Assume they were married in Surrey prior 1867 - even though I haven't been able to find it on IGI, did find some children:
Harry HARMS (Bap 7 Apr 1867 at Richmond, Surrey)
Annie Maria HARMS (abt 1869?)
Charlotte HARMS (abt 1868?)
Trying to find the marriage is a first step in finding out about Henry Harms, where he came from and his descendants some of whom ended up in Western Australia........any help to find the marriage would be greatly appreciated tks

That is nothing unusual!
Edmonds / Edmunds / and even Edmends are very interchangeable up to that sort of time. Then different lines seem to settle on one spelling or another, but even then are subject to mistranscription. Even as recent as about 10 years ago when my nephew married, definitely as Edmonds as that is the spelling our line has used for several generations, I find the entry in the GRO index is as Edmunds.
When doing any research I always use Edm*nds and really take little notice of the spelling!

Tom, I have some information on this family. Charlotte Edmonds/Edmunds was my great grandfather's half sister by his father's first wife, Maria Kaye, who died young. Her aunt Jane Kaye Bonsey took her in (I think her two young sons had both died) and she also had Alfred Wilkinson Kaye, whose christening shows that his mother was Elizabeth Kaye. She married later, and must have given up her son to her sister as I don't see him in the census with her and her husband George Armstrong. Charlotte was in a similar situation. Her father remarried and seems not to have taken his two children into his new marriage. Her younger brother, George (his birth seems to have been the occasion of his mother's death) was put out to nurse elsewhere.
