This is rather a long shot and not really part of my family tree, just a reminiscence.
I lived in Hereford in the mid-1960s and there was an old GP who drove around town on an old-fashioned horse-drawn coach. He wore Victorian type clothing and a top hat which he doffed when passing a lady. I visited his surgery once when my own GP was on holiday and he and his patient sat in leather armchairs either side of an open fire in a room full of interesting objects like ash trays made from elephant's feet. Obviously a colourful character - I wondered if anyone knew any more about him?

Can i suggest you post this on a site called "old hereford photos "- it has its own web site and a page on facebook which is incredibly popular with the older locals and has photos and comments. I am sure someone will help you with information - I have heard of the Dr and seen video footage of him but didn't move into Hereford till the 80s.

I remember Dr Francis, I can even remember the room he had in his surgery. He was a lovely man,I remember him calling to out home on his horse and cart when my Dad was ill, all the kids used to come and look at the horse x
