Hi,
The following details I have on the Roberts family branch with a son named James are conflicting.
Version 1 ....
Mark Roberts b1753 m1779 Elizabeth Myddleton b1758 both born Gwaenysgor, Flintshire Wales.
They had 7 children in Denbigh. Luke b1777, MARK 1777, Matthew 1777, John 1778, Elizabeth 1781, Jane 1784 and Robert 1785. Three sons born in 1777 presumed baptised all on same day but different birth years.
MARK Roberts 1777-1832 married Margaret Williams.
They had 12 children. John b1781, Thomas b1783 m1806 Eleanor Savage b1783. William 1785. Mary 1787. Jane 1789. Robert b1790 m Katherine b1805. Edward 1793. Charles 1794-1794. Charles b1796 m Elizabeth Roberts b1804. Samuel 1797. Daniel 1800 and JAMES 1807-1849.
Version 2 ....
Thomas Roberts c1753-1830 m1780 Jane Randalls c1759-1816 in Marchwiel
They had 12 children same as above except Charles 1794-1794 had a twin brother JAMES bapt 14 July 1794 d1848.
JAMES Roberts 1794-1848 or JAMES Roberts 1807-1849 married 1 1829 Mariah Hughes 1806-1830. They had one son Robert Hughes Roberts 1830-1915 who came to Victoria Australia in 1851.
James second marriage 1831 to Ellinor Williams no children as she died within a year.
James third marriage 1832 to Ellinor Owen and they had 2 children James 1838-1915 and Miriam who both came to Australia at some stage.
Also have James third marriage 1832 to Mary (Unknown) who was a publican's daughter and they had 3 children Ellen, Mary and Richard.
1841 British Census shows James and Mary and 3 children living at Llanddulas, Wales.
1851 James and Mary only, living at Wrexham Regis and 1861 James and Mary only, living at Marchwiel.
As both JAMES died in either 1848 or 1849 possibly all Census 1841-1861 are not this James Roberts at all, therefore James marrying Mary Unknown is incorrect.
I would be most grateful for any assistance to confirm which of the above is correct.
