Hello Lin,
Is it maybe possible that Isabella Pollock, was born 21/Nov/1861, Perth to parents John Pollock, and Isabella Murray.
This John Pollock, married Isabella Murray, 25/Sep/1857. in Bonhill, Dunbarton, then they moved to Stirling, Then Perth.
You then have Isabella Pollock, and her husband Joseph Newton, moving to Dumbarton, by 1881, just after their marriage in Lanark.
Regards,
Jonn.

Hello Lin, and Brevitas,
That is them in 1871. Brevitas, By 1881 John Pollock, is still in Bonhill, Dunbarton, this time he has a Margaret, as his wife, most likely Isabella Murray Pollock, died in perth sometime after the birth of Jane Pollock,1869. their last child.
Maybe Isabella Pollock, got her mothers first name mixed up on her marriage certificate, the young John Pollock, age 7 years on the 1871. census born Perth, fits well with the John Pollock, born 1863, Perth, to John Pollock, and Isabella Murray.
Regards,
Jonn.

They had a son Samuel on the 1861 - aged 6 mths. He must have died.
Strange - I don't see a death for her - I'm using quite wide parameters. I've been using SP for nearly 10 years so know the tricks ???

Hi Bleckie
She was alive in 1861 and she was an Isabella or a Mary so that couldn't be her death :-\

I've just checked brother John's death cert - 1920 Bonhill. He never married. His mother is given as Isabella Pollock m.s. Murray. The informant was Joseph Newton, brother in law.
Maybe she gave the wrong mother's name on her marriage cert - it did happen.

Hi Lin
I think that this is the family in 1851.
Balloch, Bonhill
Newton
Joseph, hd, 37, Turkey Red Dyer's labourer
Mary, w, 35
Ellen, d, 18, employed at printfield
John, s, 16, calico printer's app
Richard, s, 14, engaged at printfield
Sarah, d, 16, -do-
Christina, d, 12
Henry, s, 11
All born Bonhill
Will investigate further re Henry, It might have been miswritten in 1891 or Joseph was playing games on the census form!

1861 has Joseph Mary and Henry born Ireland ! Relatives staying with them as well. Will type it all out for you.
-
1861
Burn Street, Bonhill
Newton
Joseph, hd, 49, general labourer (printfield), b. Ireland
Mary, w, 46, b. -do-
Henry, s, 20, dyehouse labourer, b. Ireland
Sarah, d, 16, -cleaner (printwork), b. Bonhill
Christina, d, 12, stone girl (printwork), b. -do-
Joseph, s, 8, b. -do-
Alexander, boarder, mar, 46, general (printwork) lab, b. ireland
Esther, mar, 47, b. -do-
Jane, unm, 22, cleaner (printwork) labourer, b. -do-
John, unm, 20, general labourer (printwork), b. -do-
The ages of Sarah and Christina are the same as onthe 1851 - either an error on one or other or the first ones died and the named younger ones the same. Alexander looks as if he might be a relative, with Esther his wife and Jane and John their children - only guessing here.

His father is recorded as William Newton, ag lab and Mary m.s. Cameron. Both deceased.

-
Hello Lin,
On the census 1881. John Knox, is down as the brother of the head of the house, so he is the brother of Mary Knox, who married Joseph Newton, in other words Mary Newton, age 66 years on the census i provided.
Also as i stated on my previous post this Mary Knox Newton, died 1884, age 71 years, Bonhill, Dunbarton, if you purchase this certificate from Scotlandspeople, you should get her parents names provided the person who registered he death had that information.
Regards,
Jonn.

Hi Lin
According to the censuses (see previous posts ~ 1861-1881), Mary Newton was born in Ireland, so maybe her parents married there.
