Title: Army Deserters - Fleming
Post by: oisinh1 on Wednesday 13 February 13 23:38 GMT (UK)
I discovered 2 records on familysearch.org for 1918 in Mountjoy Prison of people whom I strongly believe to be relatives of mine:
John Fleming and Bridget Fleming listed as residents of Upperfeeney (Upper Feeny) and a separate record for Bridget (Brockagh Mountain). Both concerned army desertion. I believe they may have been married but have no record of this.. and does anyone know where I can find info on army deserters?

Any help would be appreciated.

That post may have been a little vague...

John Fleming was born 3 May 1883, Eden, Co Derry. His sister Sarah was married and living in Upper Feeny around the time of the prison record. Family in Scotland did believe that he was in WWI along with his brother Thomas (who also later went missing in Europe.. presumed dead) but they did not know what became of him. Ive found no army record for either brother though. And Ive no idea who Bridget is.. Im just assuming she was his wife, but I had no idea that he married and can see no record on ifhf
