Title: Wallhouse, Great Witley- Completed
Post by: DevonPaddyB on Wednesday 13 February 13 22:47 GMT (UK)
We have Freeman family listed as living at Wallhouse in Great Witley in the 1841-1871 Census returns. I can only find a partial reference from the British Listed Buildings website which seems to suggest that it was another name for Witley Manor. Can anyone shed any more light on this and advise where exactly this was situated?

I'm not sure if this will be of any help, but there is an English Heritage property called Witley Court at Great Witley, in Worcestershire. It is currently a magnificent ruin, but has an enormous fountain in the grounds, and attracts many visitors. If you google Witley Court, Worcestershire there is a telephone number, and someone may be able to help the Wall House. (Perhaps a Gatehouse for the Court?).
It's a bit late now, so I haven't looked, but there may be a website.

Thanks Giraffe,
Will see what else turns up on this Forum as well.

Oh - found it. It was Wallhouse right up until around 1974 and then suddenly became Witley Manor, a couple of miles south of Great Witley.
