My GGGrandfather was Creighton McAuley, With many alternate spellings
Creton,Crayton, MccAuley,Macauley ETC...
The earliest piece of evidence I can find is a 1830 Census record that has him in the city of Connellsville, in Fayette county Pennsylvania, his age at that time was 34 estimating his birth at or around 1796. and the record indicates he was born in Pennsylvania
I have seen conflicting information on the name of his wife and the age gap of his children indicates that perhaps he was married more than once. I have found nothing relating to his parents or where they may have come from.
Any Information would be appreciated.

There is a Craton Calley on the 1880 U.S. Federal census of Ohio (Seneca Township, Noble County), born 1796 in Pennsylvania, listed as father-in-law of the head of household, John Baker, whose wife was Harriette Baker. If you know that your Creighton had a daughter named Harriette, it might be helpful to look at this. The 1880 census images are free at ancestry.com.

Hi Sean,
You have probably investigated Harriet mentioned above, the marriage on family search gave father as Creton McCalley but no mention of mother and he is living with John and Harriet in 1870 and 1880.

1830/40 census giving no clues to parentage or wife, they just give a numerical count of persons in the household based on age groups.
THE marriage of his Creighton McCauley does not seem to mention parents either. :'(
A few family trees on ancestry but no one has ventured any further regarding parents unfortunately.
A couple name his wife as Jane Gilmore.

thank you both, the 1880 census record is the last record I have of him, living with his daughter.
I have seen references to Jane Gilmore as his first wife and a "Mary" as his second but I cannot find any records for marriage death or divorce.
The descendants from Creighton and his wife I am pretty sure of
I am trying to find out is who his father/mother were and when they came to the US and from Where.
I have seen some reports of his father being named James or John, and have found a record of a marriage between John McCauley and Sarah Clemson in Lancaster county PA in 1776 that would put them roughly in the right place at roughly the right time but I cant find any birth records for them.
