Hi, I am researching Hugh IV, Duke of Burgundy.
I would be really grateful if someone could help me figure out the following:
On Wikipedia, it states that his lineage and ancestry includes kings of Scotland
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugh_IV,_Duke_of_Burgundy
I have checked the references it provides at the bottom of the page, but I am not sure about how to interpret the information so that I can create a line of names going from the Scottish kings to Hugh IV Duke of Burgundy (which is basically what I am trying to achieve).
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

I notice that the article says Hugh died in 1272. As a direct descendant of Robert the Bruce, I can tell you he was born in 1274, too late to be an ancestor of Hugh! That does not mean that Hugh had no connection with the Scottish kings, but it will be a much earlier one.
For European mediaeval genealogy, one of the best sources is the Medieval Lands Project website. It quotes primary sources quite extensively. I have found that much that appears on the internet about mediaeval genealogy is pure fantasy.

I think there's some confusion between Yolande of Dreux (1212-1248), who was the wife of Hugh IV of Burgundy, and Yolande of Dreux (1263-1322) who was briefly Queen of Scotland following her marriage to Alexander III, but had no issue, her husband dying in a fall only five months after the marriage. Neither was a direct ancestor of Robert Bruce, Earl of Carrick and later King of Scotland.

Yes, I think what the previous poster said about the confusion between Hugh's wife Yolande of Dreux, and the Scottish Queen of a similar name is correct. Certainly, there seems to be no Scottish ancestry in the two hundred years immediately prior to Hugh's death and before that it would be difficult to ascertain any. The nearest Scottish connection seems to be that Hugh's great-great grandfather, Count Theobald of Champagne, was the elder brother of King Stephen of England, who married the niece of David I of Scotland- quite a stretch from this to claim Scottish royal ancestry! However, through this same line, Hugh is descended from William the Conqueror, King of England, if that's any consolation.
As for descendants, on the other hand, if you're at all interested in that, Hugh was a very distant ancestor of Mary of Guelders, who later became James II of Scotland's queen, and thus the ancestor of every Scottish monarch since. However, if you looked into his descendants enough, you'd probably find a lot more descendants- everybody intermarried at this point, so there are whole families who could trace their ancestry back to the Conqueror in about twenty different ways.
