Recently my HTC Smartphone has started sounding the notification for an incoming message or email, but when I look there is nothing there,Anyone any ideas why? Is it the phone cracking up? The CIA, GCHQ or Putin? Any theory serious or not quite so serious welcomed. It is an annoying distraction.
-
My wife's HTC does the same! ::)
The phone is obviously smart enough to know when someone is THINKING about sending you a message! :o ;D
-
Maybe, but it would be nice to know the technical answers. Does she by any chance have Lookout installed?
-
Unless it's installed as standard - then, no.
-
That's one possibility eliminated then!

Hi it could be that you have received an email via wi fi on your home router and the phone is on the mobile network ie: orange, O2.
-
My iPhone often vibrates when I get an e-mail on my computer. Both fed from the same router. Also sometimes my fax turns itself on when I get a 'blocked' nuisance call trying to make contact, although not connected to the phone line.

Thanks, but can't be that. I was at home on the computer at the time of the most recent occurrence. Thinking it might have been a text I opened it up, nothing there.

Don't think the email thing applies to us either?
Both my wife and I use Sure mobile (Cable & Wireless) - and my wife uses Manx Telecom's email service.

On my Sony Ericsson, when it dingle dongles I swipe from the top of the screen towards the bottom and a list of notifications is shown: facebook, e-mail1, e-mail2, etc. but sms message notifications are on one line in the middle of the screen without any swiping.
BTW, as you wrote that 'not quite so serious' are also welcome: if you hit your cheek a resounding smack with your smart phone does it make you smart?
cheers, falcybe

I think that could be described as a "sting" rather than smart. :)

Are your sure the notification is for an email etc.
I have 2 HTC's and you they will notify you of all manner of things, low battery, roaming etc plus all the obvious stuff like FB.
Have you gone through all your settings to see what each notification is set to?
Also try removing the battery and rebooting.
Is your phone stock or rooted?

Thanks for the tips Mike, My phone is stock, will try a re-boot I think too.
