I have several ancestors recorded on Charles Street, Woolwich (Borough Greenwich) between 1851 and 1891. The church they married in etc. was St Mary Magdalene. A search on Google Earth brings up a Charles Street north of the river, in North Woolwich; can anyone enlighten me as to whether there was a Charles Street south of the river in the nineteenth century?
Many thanks

Charles Street, Woolwich, is now called John Wilson Street (northern half). St Mary's Church is at its northern end.

Many thanks, Chris. From a glance at Google Earth it looks as if the old buildings are long gone.
Thanks again

From memory, everything was pulled down when the road was made a dual carriageway in the late 1960's
