Title: Help with Cambuslang Place Name - 1890's

Hello,

Looking for some clarification on the addresses listed for my 3rd and 4th great grandfathers, James and his son William Hogg.  James was a Colliery Manager in Cambuslang area for 20+ years.

In the 1901 census and on James's marriage certificate their address is listed at Hamilton Dr. Glynidd. 

I see that Hamilton Dr. is a short street near Cambuslang Institute, but can find no mention anywhere of "Glynidd"  Does anyone have any ideas what/where this might refer too? 

Thanks in advance for any insight you may be able to provide.

I think you are very likely right, Graham  :)

There is a reference here to a property on the street in the right period in relation to Sir Harry Lauder. It also seems to have a name. See:
   
19? Hamilton Drive, Cambuslang, Glasgow, 1900?-1903

The UK Census of March 31, 1901 places Harry (30), Annie (27) and John (9) in Hamilton Drive, in the Glasgow parish/village of Cambuslang. Harry's occupation is listed as Professional Entertainer.  The census entry notes that the dwelling has "7 windowed rooms". The property is named "Lauderdale", but no street address is mentioned.

Viewing Hamilton Drive on "Google Maps", the street seems to be comprised of large homes on spacious properties, no doubt an indication of Harry's ever-increasing income at the time.

Thanks folks, the plot thickens. 

I looked up James in the post office directory (thanks for the link - I'm new at this and hadn't thought to look there).  James address is listed as:

 Hogg, Jas., Kirkhill Colliery ; ho,
  Hayden Villn, Hamilton drive

This is cool, because I suspected he was the manager at the Kirkhill Colliery - would a colliery manager live in such a house?  His father was also a colliery manager in Forth, and the home still exists (I have a photo) and it looks to be quite a nice place (for the time, mid-1840's).

Definitely a house name.
I have ancestral relatives who lived at number 6 Hamilton Drive and their house was called Strathclyde.
I have found various travel documents for my family who were certainly still residing at this address  after 1930.
